Almost 136,000 people now vaccinated in Bridgend County Borough

Latest figures have confirmed that close to 136,000 people have received a coronavirus vaccination in Bridgend County Borough.

As part of the ‘nobody left behind’ strategy, Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is currently holding extra clinics for people aged over 40 who have not yet had their first dose or who do not have a vaccine appointment. 

They are also continuing to provide first doses of the vaccine to people in the 18-39 age group,  are completing second dose vaccinations for people aged 65 and over, and are in the process of vaccinating 16-64 year olds who have underlying health conditions.

Mobile testing remains available for anyone experiencing symptoms of coronavirus, and a walk-in facility has been established at the Awel-Y-Mor Community Centre in Hutchwns Terrace (CF36 5TP) to deal with a rise in positive cases within the Porthcawl area. The testing facility is available between 9am – 6pm, and people can currently attend without booking an appointment.

However, booking remains essential for both of the county borough’s other testing sites. A drive-through facility is available between 9am and 5pm at the site of the former Revlon/Cosi factory off Oakwood Drive in Maesteg (CF34 8TS), while a walk-through facility can be found at the Bowls Hall car park of Bridgend Life Centre (CF31 4AH) between 2pm and 8pm for people.

Booking for the latter two sites can be arranged by visiting the Welsh Government website or calling 119. If you have hearing or speech difficulties, you can call 18001119. You can also request a self-test kit to be carried out in your home.
