Apply for secondary school places online

Secondary school admissions for September 2021 open on Monday 19 October at 10am and it’s quick and easy to apply online.

Parents and carers will have the option of applying for their child’s place using an online form available in the ‘My Account’ section on the council’s website.

Councillor Charles Smith, Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, said: “To be able to fill in a secondary school admission application online, residents simply need to sign up to ‘My Account’ at www.bridgend.gov.uk by supplying an email address.

“If you are in any doubt about catchment areas, then please check the catchment maps on the school admission pages of our website first before you apply.”

Once the secondary school applications open, parents and carers of primary school pupils who are currently in Year 6 will have until 22 January 2021 to submit their application. They will then be notified of the outcome of their application on 1 March 2021.

Parents and carers are advised that failure to submit an application by the deadline may result in their child being refused a place at the school of their choice.

There is no automatic admission to any secondary school, regardless of the primary or junior school that a child currently attends.

Please note that a separate application process is followed for admissions to Archbishop McGrath Catholic High School. Parents and carers should contact the school directly for an application form.

Further details about school admissions, including catchment maps, can be found on the council website.
