Arrangements at cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants

People are being reminded about some of the arrangements in place when they visit pubs, bars and restaurants to help keep them as safe as possible during the coronavirus pandemic.

The new table only service restrictions mean that all premises which have a licence to serve alcohol now need to serve customers only when they are sitting down, generally at a table.

Customers also need to order, consume and pay for the food and drink at their table with all tables being spaced out so different households are sat separately.

When entering and leaving restaurants, pubs, bars and cafes and walking around these premises, customers are required to wear a face covering. This applies to all staff and customers over the age of 11 unless individuals have a reasonable excuse not to wear one.

All food and drink should be consumed at tables with alcohol sales stopping by 10pm.

Meanwhile the Test Trace Protect service requires customers to provide their contact details so they can be contacted in the event of a coronavirus outbreak being linked to the venue.

While live performances and dancing are not permitted, televisions, recorded music and quizzes are allowed if kept at background level, avoiding the need for people to raise their voices which increases the risk of transmission of coronavirus.

To ensure regulations are being met to help minimise the risk of exposure to coronavirus, Bridgend County Borough Council’s enforcement officers are continuing to visit a range of premises.

To help support our local pubs, bars and restaurants and to keep all customers and staff as safe as possible, we ask all customers to be aware, and adhere to, the necessary measures in place during the coronavirus pandemic.
