Changes to waste and recycling collections over Easter

There will be some changes to waste and recycling collections over the Easter bank holiday weekend.

Bridgend County Borough Council’s waste partners Kier will be working as normal on Good Friday 2 April but there won’t be any collections on Monday 5 April.

As a result, waste and recycling will be picked up one day later than usual for the remainder of that week up until Saturday 10 April.

Much of the packaging on Easter eggs can be recycled – the cardboard boxes, plastic holders and foil wrappers can all be separated and put in recycling containers.

Community recycling centres continue to be open for essential use and will revert to summer hours from 1 April - 8.30am until 7pm from Monday to Friday and 8.30am until 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. With social distancing in place there may be queues so residents are kindly asked to be patient.

If you’re making the most of the spring weather to do some gardening, registrations are now open for this year’s garden waste recycling collections.

Residents are reminded that if someone in their home is showing coronavirus symptoms, their tissues should be double bagged and set aside for 72 hours before putting them in the waste bag. Tissues, kitchen roll, toilet paper or wipes shouldn’t be placed in your recycling bags or public litter bins in order to keep residents and Kier collection crews safe.

For more information, visit the council’s waste and recycling webpage.
