Council giving 25 young apprentices a head-start in their careers

Twenty five talented individuals are getting a head-start on their chosen careers thanks to Bridgend County Borough Council’s apprenticeship programme.

Supported by the council’s Learning and Development team, the 25 apprentices are gaining valuable on-the-job experience, while earning a salary and working towards nationally recognised qualifications in a broad range of areas including Business Administration, Learning and Development, Civil and Structural Engineering, and IT.

An apprenticeship with Bridgend County Borough Council has provided me with endless opportunities to develop myself. The on-the-job experience has enabled me to learn so much during my time here. I’m really looking forward to exploring more opportunities as my apprenticeship progresses.

With 16 apprentices having successfully achieved full time roles within the council since April 2013, Bridgend County Borough Council is committed to increasing the number and range of apprenticeships it offers even further.

Councillor Charles Smith, Bridgend County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, said: “I’m very pleased to hear about the progress on apprenticeships within the council. Our apprentices provide us with a great deal of additional support in carrying out very important duties and I wish them all the very best of luck in gaining their nationally recognised qualifications.”
