Council offers package of support to assist retail businesses to reopen

As the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic continues, Bridgend County Borough Council are inviting local retail businesses who are considering reopening to book a free place on the online Covid-19 awareness training. This training can help make sure the premises is well prepared to welcome customers back.

The course will take approximately three hours to complete and can be done at home using the trainee’s own equipment. On successful completion, the business will be issued with a sticker to display at their premises to inform customers that they have been fully trained.

As an additional part of this start-back package, businesses may also request a complimentary sneeze guard to further protect themselves and customers on their return to work. Businesses will be allocated a date, time and location to receive the sneeze guard from council staff from 8 June 2020.

As the pandemic continues, it is of the highest importance to us that residents and local business owners feel safe as the return to work process is mapped out.

By completing this training, local businesses can help provide peace of mind to customers that they have taken the necessary steps to protect both parties. The complimentary sneeze guard will only emphasise business’ commitment to keeping themselves and residents safe.

I would definitely recommend completing the training if you are a local retail business, as it will make your return to work and a level of normality a much smoother transition.

Council leader, Huw David

Initially, there will only be one place available per business but additional names can be added to a waiting list and contacted when places become available. Those attending will be asked a number of key questions in order for the council to access financial support for the training.

The Covid-19 awareness training is intended for business owners, managers and other key staff. To book and request a sneeze guard, please call Employability Bridgend on: 01656 643428 or email: employability@bridgend.gov.uk.
