Deadline for business support grants

Businesses in Bridgend County Borough have one month left to apply for Welsh Government grant funding support.

Designed to help traders meet lockdown challenges during the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, the deadline for receiving new applications is 5pm on 30 June 2020 - any applications received after this date will not be considered.

Since the launch of the £1.4bn financial rescue package, the council has processed 2,204 applications from local firms and has awarded more than £27m.

The support is available to businesses who are eligible for small business rates relief in Wales and who occupy premises with a rateable value of £12,000 or less. It includes those who fall under the small business rates relief threshold of £6,000 and who do not currently pay business rates. Grants are also available to businesses in the retail, leisure or hospitality sector with a rateable value between £12,001 and £51,000.

Applications can be made by completing an online form. To avoid delays in processing claims, it is vital for all applicants to provide accurate, essential information including copies of bank statements showing bank details.

Council Leader Huw David said: “This funding has provided a vital lifeline for eligible businesses all across the county borough which has helped them to meet the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

“With just four weeks left before the deadline expires, I hope that any business which has yet to apply will do so as soon as possible to make sure they do not miss out.”
