Emergency childcare provision for keyworkers

The local authority strongly advises that parents should not make use of the emergency childcare offer in Bridgend unless absolutely necessary.

Children from families where at least one of the child’s parents are key workers will continue to receive emergency childcare in Bridgend County Borough.

A limited amount of emergency childcare for key workers will be available over the weekend of Saturday 28 March and Sunday 29 March, during the school week starting Monday 30 March, and over the Easter break between Saturday 4 April and Sunday 19 April (inclusive).

All eligible key worker parents, including those who have applied previously, must apply (even if they have previously applied) for this latest round of provision. You can do this by completing a form at the council website.

In order to provide the childcare safely with limited resources, Bridgend County Borough Council has identified employees of the following as being eligible keyworkers:

• National Health Service
• Police
• Fire and Rescue Service
• Ambulance Service
• HM Prison Service
• Social Care and
• Childcare

We thank all parents for taking on board national public health advice and keeping their children at home if at all possible.

Our staffing levels are significantly depleted during the pandemic, and we are not currently able to expand the provision to cover other categories of key worker.

We are very grateful to staff for all their efforts in maintaining the provision, and are reviewing this on a daily basis.

Six schools have become centres for emergency childcare provision in Bridgend: Maesteg School, Brynmenyn Primary School, Maes Yr Haul Primary School, Coety Primary School, Pencoed Primary School and West Park Primary School.
