Have your say on proposed walking and cycling routes

Bridgend county borough residents are being invited to have their say on proposed new active travel routes for pedestrians and cyclists.
The first phase of the consultation was launched in December and more than 900 people responded, with 3,099 contributions about the barriers they face when walking and cycling for everyday journeys in the county borough.
Many thanks to those who took the time to share their views - these comments have now been considered and have contributed to draft route plans showing existing and proposed future active travel routes.
A second phase consultation has now been launched to allow residents to have their say on these plans and let us know if the routes are more likely to help them get around their local areas as a pedestrian or cyclist. And if not, what other improvements they would like to see.
Having your say is made easy through our online mapping portal and your comments will help us to improve the active travel routes network map. The consultation will be available from Wednesday 3 March until Sunday 4 April.

The results of this feedback will be used to finalise the map, which will then go out for further consultation before being be submitted to Welsh Government for approval.

In July 2020, Bridgend County Borough Council secured a £3m grant from Welsh Government to improve cycle ways and footpaths, including almost £2.6m for a package of work along the planned active travel route between Bridgend and Pencoed College.
In January, work began on the active travel route that will link Pencoed with Pencoed College. This also connects to the existing network that goes through Pencoed on Felindre Road and Coychurch Road, through Coychurch, across Coychurch Roundabout and into Bridgend Industrial Estate.
