Love 2 Walk Festival 2021 gets underway

Walkers of all ages and abilities are being invited to pick up some historic tales while exploring their local area as the annual Love2Walk Festival (June 19 – July 1 2021) gets underway.

The free annual walking festival, organised by Bridgend County Borough Council in partnership with the Local Access Forum and a team of volunteers, calls on local residents to lace up their walking boots or trainers to enjoy a programme of walks that range in difficulty.

The event kicked off last weekend, but there are still plenty of walks scheduled before it comes to an end on July 1 including treks exploring Porthcawl’s picturesque seafront, Merthyr Mawr and Kenfig Nature Reserve.

Each walk is led by a knowledgeable and experienced guide who will help walkers brush up on their local history knowledge and point out areas of interest along the way.

Walks vary from easy to challenging and those taking part are reminded to keep safe by dressing appropriately, following the Countryside Code and ensuring they keep fed and hydrated.

Booking a place is essential. For more details or to book visit the Love 2 Walk Facebook page or email love2walk@bridgend.gov.uk
