Most pharmacies now offering free lateral flow device tests

Free rapid Covid-19 self-test kits are now available for people without any symptoms to collect from a number of local pharmacies across Bridgend county borough.

In Wales, you can get lateral flow tests for you and your household if:

  • you are a volunteer
  • you cannot work from home
  • you are an unpaid carer
  • you are visiting Wales from elsewhere
  • you are travelling to other areas of the UK
  • your health board requires testing before hospital visits
  • you or your partner are using hospital maternity services
  • you are the parent, carer or guardian of a child in hospital
  • you are going to an event that requires it

If you get tests through your employer or education setting you should continue to do so.

People can obtain lateral flow testing kits in a variety of ways – either by ordering online from the NHS website, collecting them in person from a dedicated collection point, such as the Bowls Hall car park of the Bridgend Life Centre from  8am – 1pm, seven days a week, or by collecting them from a participating pharmacy. Find out if a pharmacy near you is offering this service.

Rapid lateral flow tests enable people without coronavirus symptoms to see if they have the virus.

We know that around one in three people with Covid-19 don’t have symptoms but can still infect others which means that for these people, getting tested regularly is the only way to know if you have the virus. If people test positive and self-isolate, it helps stop the virus spreading.
