New arrangements for mobile testing in Bridgend County Borough

New arrangements are in place for how people can access Covid-19 mobile testing facilities in Bridgend County Borough.

From Friday 9 October, a new mobile testing facility has been established at the Evergreen Hall, which can be found at the end of the Civic Offices building in Angel Street, Bridgend. This will be available for walk-in tests, seven days a week, between 9am-3.30pm.

It replaces the previous testing centre which was based in the Bowls Hall car park of Bridgend Life Centre and is now closed.

A second mobile testing facility has also been set at the Richard Price Centre in Llangeinor. This is available between 9am-5pm, seven days a week.

No booking is required for either of the mobile testing centres, but please only attend if you are showing symptoms of coronavirus such as a high temperature, a new persistent cough, or a loss or change in your sense of taste or smell.

While waiting to use the mobile testing service, some queuing should be expected, so please remember to wear a mask.

On arrival, health professionals will guide you through the process, and you will be asked to provide your name, date of birth, address and mobile phone number.

Once the test has been completed, you should return home immediately to self-isolate until the results have been confirmed. While most people will receive their results via text message the day after taking a test, some results may take a little longer.

With ample car parking available nearby, the Evergreen Hall in Bridgend town centre should offer people greater protection from the weather and avoid problems such as electrical equipment becoming exposed to rain.

A second facility has been opened at the Richard Price Centre following a recent rise in positive cases in the Garw Valley, and I hope that residents of the valley will make full use of this as we seek to limit the spread of the virus.

Both mobile testing centres form an important part of efforts to combat exposure to Covid-19, and will be of huge support to the people of Bridgend County Borough.
