New logo developed to help promote town centres

A new town centre logo has been designed to help promote Porthcawl, Maesteg and Bridgend following the Covid-19 outbreak.
The logo, which forms part of the new destination brand for Bridgend County Borough, will be used to promote the town centres as visitor destinations as part of the area’s wider tourism offer.
Designed to highlight a cross-section of the county borough, it features the hills of the Llynfi, Garw and Ogmore valleys, Maesteg Town Hall, the historic Old Bridge in Bridgend town centre, the Ogmore River and the coastline at Porthcawl.
Reinforcing the message that the tourism sector is crucial to the local economy, a new town centre logo has been designed by the local authority to help promote our town centres in Porthcawl, Maesteg and Bridgend. The logo, which can also be seen on our new tourism website, has been developed to represent the diversity of the county borough. The words ‘People - Community - Belonging’ have been chosen to strengthen the connection that local residents have with the town centre areas.
With the requirement to stay local now lifted, self-contained accommodation able to open and some pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants expected to reopen outdoors under the latest lockdown changes announced by Welsh Government, we are looking forward to welcoming visitors and encouraging residents to discover the adventure, history and activities on offer here in a safe, sensible way.
During the outbreak of Covid-19 and the subsequent social restrictions that were introduced, many people developed a greater affinity for their community and felt a deeper sense of belonging to their home. This feeling of belonging is often recognised as being something which is particularly prevalent in the communities of Wales. Although the logo is a council initiative, it is hoped that the sentiments and message it coveys will resonate with organisations who work in partnership with the authority to support and strengthen our town centres.
