Next steps of successful employment scheme to be considered by Cabinet

Bridgend County Borough Council’s Cabinet, when they meet this week, will consider the steps of the successful employment scheme which has supported over 4,600 residents.

Since 2014, Employability Bridgend has supported people into employment or helped them progress to more sustainable or better paid employment as part of a scheme covering the Cardiff Capital Region which has supported over 50,000 residents.

Employability Bridgend has contributed to this figure by supporting 4,661 participants, with 1,589 of these entering employment and 1,609 receiving training to further their employment journey.

This figure includes 410 young people not in employment, education or training from the most vulnerable communities in Bridgend county borough, with 162 of these finding employment to date. People experiencing in-work poverty have also been supported locally with 249 residents helped to find a better position in the labour market.

Inspire 2 Work have also worked alongside Employability Bridgend to also support 876 young people who were classified by Careers Wales and Job Centre Plus as their ‘hardest to reach’. As a result, 427 young people have successfully progressed into employment or education.

Cabinet will meet to discuss the success of the scheme and the steps required to maintain it at 2.30pm on Tuesday 8 February 2022.
