Pods to help keep rough sleepers safe

Four pods designed to help keep rough sleepers safe during the coronavirus outbreak will be set up in Bridgend county borough this week.
The new pods are being placed in temporary locations near projects run by The Wallich and the housing association Pobl which offer 24/7 support for the individuals using them.
These new pods are being introduced to respond to the need of rough sleepers, offering them a place of sanctuary in this difficult time.
They will allow them to comply with the public social distancing requirement and enable them to self-isolate should it become necessary. Being located close to established projects means there will be support on hand when needed.
The pods are among a number of new measures the local authority has introduced to increase the number of temporary accommodation units available during this crisis to help support homeless people.

The pods which contain a bed and toilet are being supplied by Amazing Grace Spaces.
