Porthcawl Christmas cracker event cancelled

The Porthcawl ‘Christmas Cracker’ event has been cancelled by the event organisers due to safety concerns over predicted high winds of up to 50 mph.

Bridgend County Borough Council have confirmed that the ‘Christmas Cracker’ event which was scheduled to take place in Porthcawl town centre on Sunday 8 December has been cancelled by the event organiser for health and safety reasons following a weather forecast by the Met Office of strong winds for Porthcawl on Sunday.

The decision was taken on Friday by EPM Creative who are organising the event on behalf of The Porthcawl Chamber of Trade in partnership with Porthcawl Town Council and Bridgend County Borough Council.

It is always a difficult decision to cancel an event as we know people will be disappointed, but with the predicted high winds we have taken the decision for public safety and insurance reasons.

We would like to thank everyone for all their support and hard work planning this event.

Paul Whittaker of EPM Creative

After a very successful Christmas lights switch on last Friday we are disappointed that the event on Sunday has had to be cancelled, but with the high winds which are forecast the safety of the public comes first.

We hope that people will still come into Porthcawl town centre in the lead up to Christmas and show their support for local businesses.

Michelle Smith the Chair of the Chamber of Trade
