Quieter roads support latest highway improvements

Bridgend County Borough Council is taking advantage of fewer vehicles using local roads during the lockdown to carry out a series of highway improvements.

The work, which includes pot-hole repairs and road resurfacing, will focus on Porthcawl Road in North Cornelly, the A4064 Abergarw Link Road, and the B4280 between Heol Spencer and Pant Hirwaun.

The maintenance is part of the council’s ongoing investment in the local road infrastructure, and all workers will be observing strict social distancing rules during the work.

Carrying out this work now while roads are quiet makes absolute sense as it minimises unavoidable inconvenience, and helps to enhance and protect the local road infrastructure.

Signage will be set up to alert people to the start of work, and we have written to residents living in the immediate vicinity to ensure that they are aware.

The programme of works will take several weeks to complete, and you can find out more by visiting the council’s website or keeping an eye on Traffic Wales.
