Recruitment underway for Visitor Welcome Stewards

Do you have time, energy and enthusiasm? Do you enjoy being outdoors, breathing in the sea air, and talking to people? If the answer is yes, and you would like to share your enthusiasm for the local area, you could be one of the friendly faces welcoming visitors to Bridgend County Borough this summer.

Bridgend County Borough Council is recruiting a number of stewards to welcome visitors on the seafront in Porthcawl and in town centres.

The role will involve offering both advice and information on nearby attractions and amenities, as well as answering any questions people may have on public transport, car parking, beach safety, public toilets and more.

The council’s director for communities Janine Nightingale said: “With the coronavirus restrictions easing and the tourist season almost upon us, we’re pleased to be able to welcome visitors again and we want to ensure that all those who visit our county borough have the best possible experience and make the most of their time here.

“We’re recruiting a number of Visitor Welcome Stewards as part of our continued support for businesses as they reopen. We’re looking to recruit people with a positive, can do attitude and a welcoming demeanour as stewards, being keen to support visitors and residents throughout the busy summer period.

“If this sounds like you, then you can find out more by visiting the Bridgend Council jobs webpages.”

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 4 May with applicants being shortlisted on Monday 10 May.  Applicants should be willing to work weekends and outdoors in various locations across the county borough.
