Recycle your old clothes

If you’re revamping your wardrobe for a fresh new look this summer, avoid the fashion faux pas of binning your old clothes – recycle them instead!

As an estimated 300,000 tonnes of used clothing goes into landfill in the UK every year, Bridgend County Borough residents are being reminded that they can choose a more sustainable style.

If you have a few items of clothing to recycle, simply pop them in a carrier bag and place it next to your other recycling containers ready for your weekly collection. However, if you have more than a bag’s worth, please take your old clothing to your nearest community recycling centre in Maesteg, Brynmenyn or Tythegston.

Even the worst worn items in your wardrobe don’t deserve landfill so please either recycle or re-use them. As well as it being possible to recycle textiles in your kerbside collections, you can also put out paired shoes too
