Rugby club visitors asked to be vigilant

Members of the public who visited Heol Y Cyw Rugby Club in Bridgend County Borough on Saturday 12 September are being advised to be extra-vigilant for the symptoms of Coronavirus, and to self-isolate and book a test immediately if symptoms occur.
The advice is being issued because people with Coronavirus are known to have visited the premises during their infectious period and a small number of cases who attended on this date have been linked back to the club.
Gemma Northey, Chair of the multi-agency Incident Management Team for Public Health Wales, said: “We are aware of a small number of cases associated with Heol Y Cyw Rugby Club.
“We are advising members of the public who visited the premises on Saturday 12 September to be vigilant for symptoms, and to self-isolate and get a test if they begin to experience symptoms – no matter how mild.
“If you or a member of your household develop symptoms of cough, fever or change in sense of taste or smell, you must self-isolate and book a test for Coronavirus promptly to help control the spread of infection.
“The public has a vital role in preventing the spread of Coronavirus by adhering to Welsh Government local restrictions in Bridgend, as well as by observing social distancing guidelines – that’s staying two metres away from others, washing hands regularly with soap or by using alcohol based sanitiser, and working from home if they can.
“We must all play our part to protect our vulnerable or older friends, family members and loved ones.”
A free Coronavirus test can be arranged via the Welsh Government website or by calling the free number 119 between the hours of 7am to 11pm.
With cases increasing and new restrictions now in place upon Bridgend County Borough, it is absolutely crucial to follow the guidelines in order to limit potential exposure and help fight the spread of the coronavirus.
