Summer Reading Challenge blasts off

Children across Bridgend County Borough are in for another action-packed summer of fun and activities with a FREE ‘fun in the park’ event held at Newbridge Fields, Bridgend on Saturday 13 July 1pm – 3pm.

Children and parents will get a flavour of what’s in store for them this summer with a host of games and crafts for your budding astronauts including ‘space cadets’ boot camp, as well as the launch of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.

Organised by Bridgend County Borough Council in partnership with Awen Cultural Trust, Halo Leisure, Menter Bro Ogwr and town and community councils, the popular summer activities programme is set to be a blast. From keeping active to letting your imagination run wild, the range of activities on offer really are out of this world.

Our Schools Out programme continues to grow each year with more and more children joining in on the fun.

The ‘fun in the park’ event is set to be another roaring success jam-packed full of fun and games for the whole family. Children will also get a taster of what they can look forward to throughout the summer holidays with lots of activities and events taking place locally.

Please come along to the event and find out more about what’s on offer. I look forward to hearing all about it!

Councillor Dhanisha Patel, Cabinet Member for Wellbeing and Future Generations

The theme of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge is ‘Space Chase’, and little astronauts taking part in the challenge at local Awen Libraries throughout the summer will pick up exclusive rewards on their journey.
