Update on how Bridgend County Borough is fighting Covid-19

Latest figures from Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board have confirmed that almost 77,000 residents of Bridgend County Borough and 245,000 people across the Cwm Taf region have now been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

The confirmation follows news that almost 180,000 vaccinations in total have been carried out locally at special vaccination centres and GP surgeries.

This week, people aged 18 and over who have not yet received their first shot of the vaccine have also started making use of new ‘walk-in’ appointments.

The walk-in appointments are available to adults who live within the health board region and are being provided at the majority of community vaccination centres with no prior booking required.

In Bridgend County Borough, they are available at Ravens Court in Bridgend town centre between 9:15am-4:30pm, Monday to Saturday.

Anyone who wishes to take advantage of a first dose walk-in appointment should bring along a form of ID such as a passport, drivers licence or a utility bill for proof of address.

Bookings for second-dose appointments are continuing to run as normal alongside the walk-in vaccinations.

The coronavirus pandemic is far from over, and Welsh Government has rightly confirmed that Wales is taking a data-based approach towards deciding when restrictions will be able to ease further.

In order to protect the most vulnerable among us from potential exposure to the coronavirus, it is vital for people to receive both vaccination shots.

The walk-in clinics are offering anyone who declined or missed their original appointment a fresh opportunity to catch up, so please, help us to protect our local communities from Covid-19.
