Views wanted on new Licensing Policy

Bridgend County Borough Council is updating its Licensing Policy for 2019-2024 and is inviting views on its aims, proposals and priorities. The policy is reviewed every four years and is based around four main objectives:

  • Prevention of crime and disorder.
  • Prevention of public nuisance.
  • Promotion of public safety.
  • Protection of children from harm.

The council is also consulting on a cumulative impact assessment which is designed to maintain the correct balance of licensed premises within an area in order to manage issues such as anti-social behaviour, public transport effectiveness, littering, and public nuisance.

Once adopted, the new cumulative impact assessment will influence the granting of licences for the likes of pubs, restaurants, entertainment venues, cultural venues, nightclubs, late night refreshment takeaways, off-licences and club premises.

The consultation will be open until 18 September and can be completed online at our consultation pages. Paper copies and alternative formats are also available by calling 01656 643664 or emailing consultation@bridgend.gov.uk
