Welsh Water completes its £70,000 investment to upgrade the sewer in Pontycymmer

Welsh Water has successfully completed its £70,000 investment to upgrade and install new sewer pipes along Bridgend road, Pontycymmer bringing long term benefits to the surrounding area.

The work by the not-for-profit water company which began at the end of October 2018 will improve the performance of the wastewater network, reducing the risk of flooding and continue to provide customers with a service they can trust in for decades to come.

This was a challenging engineering project that required detailed planning. The project was completed within good time despite the difficult underground services in the area.

We tried our best to be as efficient and productive as possible in these conditions, working closely with Bridgend County Borough Council Highways to ensure the least disruption to the surrounding area.

We would like to thank the local residents and The Halo Garw Valley life centre for their understanding and patience while we carried out these important works.

Local Councillor Rod Shaw, commenting on the completion of the scheme said: “I greatly appreciate the exemplary way the management of this repair was handled.”
