Work to improve entrance to Village Farm industrial estate

Road improvement works will soon be starting at the Heol Mostyn junction of the A48 in Pyle to provide improved access to Village Farm Industrial Estate.

The work, which is being carried out before the summer opening of the estate’s all-new community recycling centre, will introduce a dedicated lane for turning into and out of the estate, new traffic lights and fresh resurfacing of the carriageway.

Bridgend County Borough Council has awarded the contract for the works to Calibre and work is due to start in mid-June.

The new layout has a designated right hand lane for entry into the estate from the east, which will help to avoid large queues backing up along the main road while improving the flow of traffic along the A48.

Traffic lights will also be installed to support the controlled exit and entry from the industrial estate. The roadworks are due to take 12 weeks to complete, and every effort will be made to avoid inconvenience as much as possible. To support this, they will begin after the bank holiday weekend and will continue throughout the school summer holiday period when there is less traffic on the roads.

Unfortunately, with road improvements of this scale there will inevitably be some temporary disruption, and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience. Once completed, this will improve access for all businesses at Village Farm Industrial Estate, and will help to ease congestion and improve the flow of traffic.

Cabinet Member for Communities, Councillor Stuart Baldwin

When it opens later this year, the new Pyle Community Recycling Centre will offer a more modern facility which, with 31 car parking bays and on-site queuing capacity for up to 72 cars at a time, will be easier to access and feature bypass lanes and greater vehicle capacity.

The new recycling centre will replace the one at Tythegston, which has eight car parking bays, currently reduced to five due to Covid-19 restrictions.
