Youth workers being sought to deliver expansion of council services

Bridgend County Borough Council is currently looking to recruit new youth workers to support its activities and services across the sector.

The jobs call for youth workers who will be responsible for the facilitation of a provision that meets the needs of young people, senior youth workers who will be involved with managing youth centres, along with digital outreach workers who can interact with young people online and more.

With increasing numbers of young people accessing our services, the council is looking for candidates with skills such as being an effective planner and organiser, the ability to demonstrate an understanding and sensitivity to the needs of a range of young people, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

With additional provision planned to cope with increasing demand at our existing Pencoed and CCYD youth centres and renovation works in the final stages at the Evergreen Hall in Angel Street where a new Bridgend town centre youth hub is being created, further staff are required.

Plans are in place for establishing new youth services in the Brackla and Cefn Glas areas in the first instance, and we are also liaising with Bridgend Youth Matters over plans for providing further services aimed at children and young people.

I hope the new roles are of interest and that they attract candidates who are passionate and enthusiastic about providing high-quality information, advice and guidance.

Lindsay Harvey, Corporate Director for Education and Family Support
