Bridgend Early Help Services

Children, young people and their families sometimes need a little extra help and support to have happy, healthy and successful lives.

The Early Help Team is a voluntary service that aims to help provide the right support for you and your family to aid positive change. We put the family at the centre of the support from start to finish of any involvement with the service.

The service focuses on:

  • talking about strengths as well as areas that could be improved
  • getting you the right help at the right time
  • bringing together a team of the right people who can help your family
  • listening to you and giving you choices.

Early Help Screening

The Early Help Screening Team is the first contact point for any professional, parent, child or young person to get the information, advice and assistance you need.

Early Help Hubs

The Early Help hubs are an early intervention service offering high quality assistance to children, young people and their families

Counselling

Children and young people between 10 and 25 can access a counselling service, it gives the opportunity to talk about things that concern you one to one with a qualified counsellor.

Support Services

You can access a number of support services across the county borough.

Access support

To access support, please complete a 'Request for help' form and return to: earlyhelp@bridgend.gov.uk

Once receiving a referral, an Early Help worker will arrange to meet with you to complete a whole family assessment. We will look at changes you would like to make to improve family life and answer any questions you may have.

Once the assessment has been completed with your support worker, you will agree an action plan. This sets out how you will achieve positive changes and who will be responsible for each action.

We may also contact other organisations who have supported your family in the past or could help in the future.

The Early Help worker may refer to other agencies and professionals if additional help is needed to make sure you are getting the right support.

The support with Early Help is regularly reviewed and can last for up to 6 months.
