Reparation and unpaid work

Reparation is the act or process of making amends and allows a young person to say sorry for the harm that they have caused.

This is performed by completing practical tasks that either directly benefit the person that they have harmed or the community as a whole.

40 - 240 hours unpaid work can be given to young people who are aged 16 or 17 as part of a Youth Rehabilitation Order.

For young people that are not in education, training or employment (ETE), unpaid work can take place a minimum of 4 hours a day, 4 days a week.

Young people engaged in ETE are expected to complete sessions weekly.

All reparation and unpaid work tasks are Risk Assessed and supervised by Youth Justice Service Officers.
