Green Infrastructure

The term Green Infrastructure (GI)’ describes environmental features as development assets.

  • For householders -  GI means features like bird and bat boxes, wildlife areas, ponds, water butts and solar panels.
  • For developers - GI is a resource to capitalise on in the development process, and includes urban drainage schemes, green rooves, and sustainable transport routes.

As a leader in GI, we want to help householders, small business owners and developers consider the natural environment in planning. This allows the county borough to benefit from economic growth while protecting and improving the environment.

As the Bridgend Local Development Plan and our planning policies state, we are committed to enhancing and protecting Bridgend County Borough’s natural assets. By considering the natural environment in your planned changes, you can help make Bridgend County Borough a greener, healthier place.
