School transfer requests

Transferring a child between schools can be quite disruptive. This is especially true for Year 10 and 11 students, as subjects or exam boards may differ in another school, even within the county borough. If a transfer request is not due to a house move, parents/carers are strongly advised to talk to their child’s teacher or headteacher. They can help with many issues that can lead to transfer requests.

However for some children, a transfer could create a fresh start. The least disruptive time to transfer is at the beginning of the school year, but transfers should be thought about very carefully in all cases.
