Overview

As the UK Government’s austerity programme continues, councils across the country are having to change the way they work and the services they provide so that they can manage with less. Over the next four years Bridgend County Borough Council is expecting to have to make budget reductions of up to £50 million. By 2020 the council could be two thirds of the size it is today.

Despite the financial challenges ahead, Bridgend County Borough Council is determined to deliver its vision of working together to improve lives across the county borough by focusing on three top priorities:

  1. Supporting a successful economy.
  2. Helping people to be more self-reliant.
  3. Smarter use of resources.

The council would like to hear the views of local residents, organisations and communities on the priorities and where the council should seek to realise the budget reductions that it has make.
