Register to become a Childcare Offer provider
To become a Childcare Offer for Wales provider you must be registered with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) and complete a provider agreement.

Training for childcare providers
Due to Covid-19, the courses have been held online except for paediatric first aid. Part 2 is delivered is a classroom environment by our training provider which have systems and checks in place to ensure compliance with current Covid-19 advice.
Training for 2022 – 2023 may continue in this blended manner. The Childcare Team will inform settings of any changes to training delivery methods.

This course is designed for those working in the childcare sector. The training meets the national minimum standards for regulated childcare. Over 12 hours, candidates will receive a high level of training, to enable them to deal with first aid emergencies affecting babies and children. A certificate is issued which is valid for 3 years.
The course is delivered in a classroom environment with group work and practical exercises. Workbooks are provided and candidates are encouraged to make additional notes. Completion of the course is subject to a formal examination at the end of the day. Successful candidates will receive a certificate from the Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance. The Award Body for the Food Safety qualification requires all candidates to provide proof of identification.
- Valid passport;
- Signed UK photo card driving license;
- Valid Warrant Card issued by HM Forces, Police;
- Other photographic ID card (employee ID card, Student ID card, Travelcard);
- Signed bank card.
For good practice candidates should attend this course every three years.
This course aims to provide delegates with a detailed understanding of Child Protection, particularly in relation to the systems that exist to safeguard children and their role within these systems. Delegates will gain a clear and detailed understanding of the systems that exist to safeguard children and their role within these systems. In addition, training at this level will also equip delegates with an understanding of legislation and guidance.
For good practice candidates should attend this course at least every three years, or more frequently as required.
Participants will have a greater understanding of health, safety and environmental issues within the workplace and their role in recognising, preventing and recording risk, hazards and accidents. Update your knowledge of current legislation, how to assess and reduce the risks of fire and what you should do in the event of a fire. Ability to conduct risk assessments appropriate to the childcare setting, familiarity with the relevant health and safety legislation and highlights the risks associated with the working environment and client group.
